After Mass in Austin...we found a sweet Mom and Pop Italian restaurant that had one of my favorite Shirley Temple movies on when we walked in. The pizza was the best I have had in the States...and was very authentically European with the delicate crust and hand cut ingredients. The kids were well behaved and the shop owner complimented them on their manners.
I love when we can enjoy a meal out together!!!

Sweet Chicken Video that made me smile.

Success with the jigsaw ... Chickens happily watered now

Starting with hammer and nail...I soon discovered how hard it was to get the hole big enough to insert the drip spout. I ended up using my jig saw to cut a small "t" in the bucket and then wrapped the spouts with caulking tape to keep them from leaking water. The chicken "waterer" worked smoothly. I added a broken garlic oil capsule to the water to keep my chicks bug free. The garlic wards off mosquitoes and fleas. They are inside for the time being but as soon as their coop is built I plan on transferring them outside and wanted to have the garlic in their system before hand. :)

After the Freeze

Last night we had an ice storm. Many branches fell on the house. Three were 20 feet long or so...it was a little unsettling but this morning as the ice from the branches began to melt into a beautiful sight. Bright sun and sparkles of melting ice falling from the trees seemed almost magical. I imagine we will see beautiful things like this in Heaven.

The Fireplace

The fireplace really turned out wonderful.
The arch makes it feel welcoming and cozy.
Like its in a little den in a Hobbit home.

"Oh my gosh...I got cha. " :)

We have had such a wonderful week. Sweet Rosalie LOVES sitting here throughout the day with her chickens. I was in the kitchen and I heard her singing to them so I quickly took this video. I missed the sweet song but I did capture this cute moment. :)

Little mastiffs growing up:)

For Jake's and my anniversary we traveled to Dallas for the weekend and on our way we stopped to see our friends who raise Mastiffs at Five B Ranch. This little brindle "runt"...considered tiny by American Mastiff standards...captured my heart. I really like her!! :)

It's a fun family event

Picking chicks!!

I have been dreaming of chickens for years...Jake can attest to the late nights looking through my most current chicken magazine deciding and changing my mind on my favorite chicken breeds. Our house is five weeks from being done so I thought I would wait until then to buy my chicks...BUT OH NO!!! My sister in law, Heather talked me into coming with her to the feed store to get her chickens and look and see if they had the breeds I like. Oh, my word I totally couldn't resist. Katie ( my sweet friend) and Heather laughed as I decided on two, four, okay fine...eight...oh wait Rosalie put an extra one in there...nine...let's make it an even number...TEN chicks. :) I bought two Polish, two Silver Laced Wyandottes, four Americanas, and two Silkies. It was so much fun...our farm has begun!!!
